Beach Engagement Session | Ocean City, NJ | Amy and Doug | Love is Sweet

 

Ocean City NJ Engagement.  Ocean City New Jersey has some great locations for photo sessions.  Amy and Doug got engaged on the beach in Ocean city and wanted to have their engagement photo session in the same location.  We started out at the north end of the island and ended up near the boardwalk and fishing pier.

Amy and Doug met while working at the Hershey Company in Hershey, Pa.  What a sweet place to work!  Ha-ha, I couldn’t resist! These two interned together in the summer of 2013. Amy liked Doug from day one, but unfortunately for Amy, Doug was in a relationship.  They remained good friends.  One day in 2016, Doug asked Amy to go on a date.  They had a long-distance relationship for a while as Amy lived in Hershey and Doug was in Pittsburgh. Doug visited Hershey often, so they were able to get together when he was in town.

Love is Sweet

After 3 years of dating Doug knew he wanted to propose to Amy.  They had planned a long weekend getaway in Ocean City, NJ and Doug knew that the beach was the perfect location to ask Amy to marry him.  One the last night Doug asked Amy if she wanted to go for a walk on the beach during the sunset.  During that walk, Doug got down on one knee and proposed!  After Amy said yes, she got another surprise, Doug had asked her family to be there.  They were watching from the dunes! Amy’s brother even got some pictures of the moment from the dunes!

Grandmother’s ring

One of the most special parts of their engagement is that Doug proposed with his grandmother’s ring. When Doug’s grandpa proposed to his grandma, he could not afford a ring at that time, and he spent his whole life to save up to buy her the diamond that Amy has on her finger today. Doug’s grandpa passed away right before the ring was finished, but the jeweler he had purchased it from still gave it to Doug’s grandma. Doug’s grandma is in her 90’s now, and it was incredibly special to them that she gave Doug the ring to ask Amy to marry him!

Having Fun Together

These two enjoy doing everything together. They like watching TV and sporting events.  Doug is a Packers Fan, (good choice), Amy is an Eagles fan, and they are both Phillies fans, so they have lots of games to watch together.  Traveling back and forth from Hershey and Pittsburgh for many years has made them love to explore new areas.  They do love flashlight corn mazes and painting pumpkins.  You know it is love when Amy goes to the PA farm shows with Doug and Doug takes Amy to ballets and Broadway performances, which she loves.

Ocean City NJ Engagement Session

Amy and Doug were open to suggestions as to the best locations on the island for photos.  We started out on Seacliff beach which is at the north end of the island.  Since it was a holiday weekend, I wanted to find a beach that was not going to be busy. Seacliff was perfect.  We started in the dunes and ended up in the ocean.  These two followed directions so well when I started to tell them how to pose.  By the end of the session, I did not have to make any more suggestions because they were just going with the flow, which I just love.

After we finished up at Seacliff beach, we drove down to 14th street beach were the famous fishing pier is located. We timed it perfectly to catch the sunset and thankfully the beach was not busy at all.  We did some posed photos and some with movement!  I love a good twirl shot and catching the couple walking along the beach.  I just love to capture their love at this special time in the relationship!

A May 2021 Wedding

Amy and Doug are getting married at the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge National Park and having a reception at The Loft in Landis Creek.  They are looking forward to celebrating with their family and friends.  Their theme is going to be “Love is Sweet” since they met at Hershey and both love chocolate!  They both love Kit Kats, and they are so sweet together!

 

I enjoyed meeting these two and wish them a magical wedding day filled with love. The locations look just beautiful and I cannot wait to see their wedding photos.  I hope to see them again at the Jersey shore as their story continues!
