John and Jackie | A wedding that took years to happen| East Mountain Holiday Inn Wedding

East Mountain Holiday Inn Wedding. John and Jackie finally said their I do’s September 4th in Wilkes Barre, Pa. These two were high school sweethearts but both ended up taking different paths in life. John and Jackie ended up marrying other people and had families of their own.  After both went through divorces, the stars aligned, and they were able to reconnect. Their love never died and soon they were planning a wedding!

I enjoy seeing this family. Memories by Maria Photography photographed Jackie’s son’s wedding in 2017. Then I photographed Jackie’s daughter-in-law brother’s wedding in 2018. Jackie’s daughter married her high school sweetheart in 2019 and I was able to photograph this wedding as well. I was excited when Jackie contacted me about photographing her wedding.  This was the fourth wedding I have photographed for this family and there might be a fifth coming soon!

Absolutely perfect day

We had the perfect weather for a wedding. The sun was shining, and it was a warm day. Jackie made several DYI projects for her wedding. With the help of her daughters and other family they made the invitations, place cards, favor tags, the card box and multiple signs. I loved the colors they chose to work-in throughout the wedding. Her daughters wore pink dresses. Jackie’s bouquet was hand tied with cream, pink and burgundy flowers. Jackie’s dress was beautiful. It was a blush color and complemented her perfectly. One tip, make sure you have a bustle added to your dress. Jackie forgot to do this and she had to improvise.

The guys wore black suits with burgundy ties. The ring bearer and flower girl are Jackie’s grandkids, and they were just too cute.  John, an Elvis fan, changed into his blue suede shoes and sunglasses for the reception.

Most anticipated moment

The love these two have for each other was so obvious during the ceremony. Jackie said that she could not wait to walk down the aisle to her beloved John.  The moment she began to walk, even though there were more than fifty people there, she only saw one person. They both waited so long for this day, that Jackie said she looked into John’s eyes the whole walk towards him.

The venue Jackie and John chose was perfect for their day.  The outdoor space for the ceremony was pretty and there were some great photo spots on the property. After family photos and photos of Jackie and John, the party started.  The DJ had everyone up dancing. It is always a party with this family. The wedding cake was so unique that Jackie did not want to cut into it. Their guests loved the popcorn bar. The different flavor popcorn tasted so good.

Advice to other couples

I like to ask my wedding couples to share some advice for other brides. Planning for a wedding day can be overwhelming sometimes and hearing tips from other brides may help them. Jackie said “Create a timeline a year ahead of time and stick with it. I was not pressured at all because I stuck to my schedule and was able to relax in the days immediately proceeding the wedding. ” Jackie also finished her planning from Florida as her and John moved there last year.

There is so much love between these two.  It was my honor to photograph their day. May they continue to love and hold each other tight for the rest of their lives.
