Spring Cape May Wedding | Amanda and Tom | Cape May beach wedding

Spring Cape May Wedding. Amanda and Tom knew that it would be on the beach when they would get married. They loved the beaches in Cape May and chose to have their ceremony at Cape May Point State Park. This is one of my favorite spots in Cape May because it is a wide, quiet beach with a lighthouse. I have photographed many weddings, engagements, surprise proposals, and family sessions in Cape May on this beach.

Amanda and Tom contacted me in March about photographing their April wedding. I was happy that I had their date open because I was excited to capture their special moment on this beautiful beach. We spoke on the phone a couple of times about a wedding day timeline and we were able to meet the day before to confirm their plans. The weather forecast kept changing, and they were nervous that their beach wedding might not happen. Thankfully, the weather was going to cooperate and the beach wedding was on.

A sunny start to the day

When I met Amanda, her sister, and niece at the Casablanca Bed and Breakfast in Cape May, the sun was shining, and there were wispy clouds. I photographed her details and dress in their getting ready room, which had a Victorian theme. Once Amanda got into her dress, we went outside to take photos. I loved the location because it had a quaint building with pretty shutters and was a perfect backdrop. The bed and breakfast had a lovely front porch and sunroom, which we used for photos before I headed to the park to meet Tom.

The sun was shining, and it was a bit windy, and we were good with that because it wasn’t raining. Tom and his best man were waiting for me on the wooded boardwalk that leads you to the beach. Tom was excited and couldn’t wait to get married. They had a quick first look on the beach and then started their ceremony.

During the ceremony, the weather started to change. We had bright sun, but gradually clouds began to roll in. Then the wind picked up, and then it got chilly! These two were smiling the whole time and didn’t let the weather affect them. Tom and Amanda exchanged personal wedding vows written the night before the wedding. They were heartfelt and spoke of their love for one another. The quote, finding love when you least expect it, was true for these two. Amanda and Tom found each other when they needed it most.

Springtime at the Jersey shore can be perfect with warm sunny days or not, so spring-like, cold, and windy. Amanda and Tom had both on their wedding day. After the ceremony, they had their first dance and parent dances right on the beach. It was so romantic dancing in the sand with the lighthouse and ocean as a backdrop!

BEACH PHOTOS THEN DINNER CELEBRATION

Before leaving the beach to head to their dinner celebration at the Grand Hotel in Cape May, we took photos of their families and the two of them. Although Amanda was getting chilly, they were such troopers because they wanted those beach photos. I loved their connection and was so happy that I could capture that for them.

Amanda’s dress was very sentimental because her mother, who had passed away, bought the dress for her. She also loved her bouquet. The lavender flowers are her favorite color, and the white represents purity and Godliness. Amanda anticipated many moments of her day. Getting into her dress, the pictures, the ceremony, reading their vows, the kiss and announcement as husband and wife and their dance on the beach.

Advice for future wedding couples

After everything has calmed down and couples have a chance to look back at their day, I ask them to share any advice with future wedding couples. Amanda gave this advice: Take your time. Don’t rush things. Breathe. Also, this is your special day, don’t stress over trying to accommodate every guest. We had a couple of hiccups with the start to the ceremony, but other than that, the day was a dream.

I love photographing beach weddings! Amanda and Tom were such a sweet couple, and it makes my heart happy to capture their special moments. Happy times ahead for these two! Congratulations.

This wedding was so beautiful. I loved looking at all the pictures. That bed and breakfast is a dream. Those pictures in between the shutters are some of my favorites. Very very pretty gown. Her mama was smiling down from heaven seeing Amanda in this gown! I love lighthouses myself so seeing the dancing and posing in front of it, is so special indeed. By the way if there was a change in the weather I didn’t notice it in those beautiful photos. Congratulations Amanda and Tom. Many more happy healthy years together. Maria, excellent pictures. You knocked it out of the park.
