Ocean City Beach Wedding | Katie and Max | July 28, 2020

Ocean City NJ wedding. Katie and Max had the perfect day for a wedding on the Jersey shore.  Ocean City, NJ is rated as one of the top family resort beach towns in the United States.  It is a beach town along the south New Jersey shore.  It is most famous for its boardwalk, beaches and that it is a dry town.  Katie and Max chose to have their wedding on the 15th street beach which had the famous fishing pier in the background. Because I love this town too,  I was excited to capture this wedding for them.

Their Love Story

Katie and Max met at work in 2014. They caught each other eye on a work trip in Cancun, Mexico that Christmas and they started dating after that.  It was not an easy journey for them but they stuck by each other’s side.  Katie and Max knew that they were in it for the long haul. Max surprised Katie with a ring in front of the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center four years after they started dating.  Of course, Katie said yes and was so happy that her daughter, Lexi was there to help them celebrate.

Katie planned her Ocean City NJ Wedding in 4 weeks

Katie didn’t stress about tiny details BUT she did stress about the weather!  Up till the day of the wedding it was calling for rain but that day someone above must have been looking down on them because there wasn’t even a cloud in the sky.  Katie and Max wanted a simple day to celebrate their love with family. A beach wedding at their favorite beach and a small dinner at the house they rented was the plan.

They personalized their ceremony by adding flowers and lanterns to the aisle.  The aisle runner had the wedding vows printed on it. There was a chair reserved for Katie’s mom who was celebrating from heaven.  I think Katie’s mom brought the sunshine for them and she also let Katie know she was there during the wedding.  Katie’s earring fell out of her ear 3 times during the ceremony. Katie put it back in her ear, put the back on and it fell out each time she did it.  We all felt that it was her mom saying “I am here with you.”

Beautiful Wedding Dress and bouquet

Katie’s dress was beautiful and perfect for her beach wedding.  It was a flowy chiffon dress with lace embroidery on the bodice. Her shoes were jeweled and she had a sparkly bracelet and earrings.  She also had her mom’s ashes with her in the jeweled necklace she wore.  Katie’s bouquet was full of calla lilies which are her favorite flower. It also had beautiful pink peonies and a pin that belonged to her mother.

Max didn’t want to see Katie before the wedding and he also waited to turn around until she was ready to walk down the aisle.  You could see the love in his eyes when he saw his bride for the first time.  It was a beautiful ceremony.

Wedding photos on the beach

Family photos followed the ceremony.  Once we were done with those photos Katie, Max and I walked along the dunes, the beach, on the boardwalk and under the pier to get a variety of bridal portraits.  I love capturing these special moments and taking photos that will make them smile.  Katie and Max received many congratulations and cheers from everyone on the beach and boardwalk.  They even received a special blessing from a couple that were celebrating their wedding anniversary. That was fun!  We walked back to the house and they enjoyed dinner and cake.

It was a beautiful day and I loved capturing their wedding moments!  Thank you, Katie and Max, for choosing Memories by Maria Photography.  May you have many years of love and laughter.
