Hilary and Bill | Smithville NJ Engagement Session | May 2019
“For you see, each day I love you more, today more than yesterday and less tomorrow” – Rosemond Gerard
We met near the bridge at Smithville historic village bright and early in the morning for this Smithville NJ engagement session. I was excited to do their session at the village. I forget how pretty it is there and I should suggest this location more often. The village has so many great places like the old buildings, the bridge, cute paths and, wrought iron fences.
We started out the session on the bridge. The light was so pretty and was in the perfect location. There were some clouds but I like to think of them as a natural filter that makes the light soft and gorgeous.
They looked awesome together
These two met on the Bumble app. When they had their first date they started out their conversation with corny jokes and after that, there was no going back. Bill proposed to Hilary about a year and a half into their relationship. He asked her to marry him in Alexandria, Va on the river. I remember Hilary saying she thought something was going on despite Bill’s attempt to keep everything a surprise. Of course, she said yes and they have been planning their wedding and enjoying their time as fiancés. When I asked what kind of wedding they were dreaming of they said, just a simple evening with family and friends. That sounds perfect to me.
After taking some photos on the bridge we headed down some of the paths into the village. I was happy to find a blooming dogwood tree and it happened to be by a blue building. My eyes light up and we headed right over to it. I love everything about that group of pictures. While we were walking around Hilary was commenting on all the animals including wanting chickens someday. There was a cute moment when a lady walking her dog went by and the little dog stopped and had to say hi to Hilary.
My favorite location
The next area we walked to made me say eeekkkk! Behind the Smithville inn was a wrought iron gate, a little cute greenhouse and a door that looked like it came out of Chip and Joanna’s magnolia farms. Bill and Hilary posing in that greenhouse made me smile. Their love can be seen in those photos!! Oh yes, don’t miss the chicken that decided to pose with them by the gate.
The last part of the session was spent by the area where couples have their outdoor ceremonies at the Smithville Inn. We took advantage of some leftover flowers that were on the arch. We also practiced some twirling and side walking. What is side walking? My couples know exactly what is by the end of their session. The mastered all the core poses and said they will work on the twirling part!
Smithville NJ engagement session
It was a gorgeous morning spent with a wonderful couple. This gallery is the biggest one I have ever delivered. There were so many good images that I had to share them all. I enjoyed the time we spent together talking about their plans and getting to know each other better. I think that it is an important part of the whole process. After all, I will be the one person you will spend the most time with on the day of your wedding.
I almost forgot to mention Hilary’s ring…oh it is just beautiful. I am looking forward to their October wedding at the Grove at Centerton. It is going to be a fabulous day.
