Reflecting on a Year of Love | A 2023 Wedding Recap | Memories by Maria Photography
2023 South Jersey Weddings. 2023 brought forth a whirlwind of beautiful romantic weddings but also presented some of the most challenging weather conditions. Each Saturday seemed to dawn with rainy clouds, testing patience and creativity in capturing the planned outdoor wedding photos. Despite the weather’s antics, I had the privilege of photographing 23 weddings and meeting numerous delightful couples along the way.
Transitioning between 23 different venues and beaches, I encountered various wedding styles, from grandiose celebrations to intimate gatherings. From sinking my toes in sandy shores to battling 25-mile-an-hour winds in Long Beach Island, every wedding was an adventure.
My favorite venues were Renault Winery, Carriage House, The Flanders, Windrift, and Swan Lake. However, a new addition to the list, Brant Beach Yacht Club, stole my heart with its charm and beauty. One unforgettable highlight was capturing Mark and Lisa’s wedding at the picturesque St. Peter’s Church in Cape May; it was a bucket list moment.
Venturing beyond New Jersey, I traveled to New York to photograph a friend’s daughter’s wedding, where rainy skies unexpectedly enhanced the wedding colors, resulting in stunning photos. Beach weddings remained a favorite, with eight ceremonies set against the backdrop of crashing waves and golden sands.

Beyond the beautiful settings, it’s the connections forged with wedding couples that genuinely enrich my work. Witnessing their love stories unfold, from “I do” to new chapters like parenthood, fills my heart with joy. This April, I eagerly await Emily and Mike’s celebration as they embark on the journey of parenthood, another cherished moment in their love story.
In the end, weddings hold a special place in my heart. Capturing each day’s intricate details and heartfelt moments reminds me that while every wedding is unique, they all share the same essence of love, commitment, and celebration. Here’s to another year of love stories and cherished memories!
