Late Summer Wedding | Stroudsmoor Country Inn PA | Shawn and Mackenzie

weddings

Late Summer Wedding. Shawn and MacKenzie said their I do’s at a quaint country inn in PA. This was the second time I photographed a wedding at Stroudsmoor Country Inn. It is located in the Pocono mountains and is a beautiful venue. Shawn and MacKenzie chose Woodgate, which resembled an old lodge, and the ceremony takes place in the middle of the tall trees. They had a warm, humid day with a touch of a little thunderstorm just before the ceremony was going to start.

Shawn and MacKenzie are the cutest couple. I enjoyed getting to know them and was excited when they asked me to capture their big day. This was the 5th wedding I have photographed for this family. It started with Shawn’s brother’s wedding in 2017, then his sister in laws brother in 2018, Shawn’s sister got married in 2019, and his mom was married in 2021. I feel like I am part of their big family now. Haha.

Fall Engagement session

Last September, I met Shawn and Kenzie for their engagement session in Jim Thorpe, PA. I love going to Jim Thorpe, and when I lived in PA, I used to do many sessions in this beautiful small town tucked into the mountain. These two have a playful relationship with one another. We laughed a lot as we walked through the town. We had a gorgeous day with some fall colors in the leaves. They rocked the posing and discovered that they were models. Seriously, they have the best model faces!

Late Summer Wedding

Shawn and Mackenzie were married at the end of August. Summer is a beautiful time to get married because the weather is usually hot and sunny. We got hot and sunny but also got a thunderstorm too! Just as we were finishing up with the groom and groomsmen photos, the sky began to get very dark. The ceremony was to start in about 30 mins when it started to rain. Thankfully, it was a quick shower, and the sun came out again.

I had fun with the getting ready photos. I love capturing all the details and moments before the ceremony. Kenzie and her bridesmaids wanted to have some champagne-popping photos. We only had a small space, but there was plenty of room to pop the cork. Well, the cork bounced off a tree and hit me in the head! That was a first. Her bridesmaids were so nice and had a calming effect on Kenzie.

Saying I do in the middle of the forest

There are several places to have your ceremony and reception at Stourdsmoor. The Woodgate has one of the prettiest ceremony sites, surrounded by tall trees. That was one of the main reasons Shawn and MacKenzie chose their venue. During their ceremony, the sun was peeking through the trees, which added to the magic of this location. These two did not have a first look, and Shawn’s reaction to seeing his bride walking down the aisle was priceless.

Their reception was filled with laughs, tears, family, and friends. This family knows how to have a good time, and they did not disappoint during Shawn and Kenzie’s party. The toasts were heartfelt, and both had tears while dancing with their parents. Once the DJ started playing the dance music, the party began. Before the sun went down, we took a few last photos outdoors to close out the beautiful day.

Bohemian touches

MacKenzie loves the Bohemian trend. She added several bohemian touches to her day, starting with her bouquet. Her dress fit her perfectly and was the ideal choice for her outdoor woodsy wedding. Kenzie’s uncle made their rings which made them extra special. The bridesmaids wore flowy green dresses, which complimented the groomsmen’s tuxes and the outdoor ceremony site.

I always ask my couples to share advice for those planning their wedding. They both said not to stress about the little things. It all works out!

They had a beautiful day, and I was happy to be part of their celebration! May they have a lifetime of love. I know they will have lots of laughter.
