Alison and Rob Married | Chalfonte Hotel | Cape May wedding

Chalfonte Hotel Wedding. The historical Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May NJ was the location of Alison and Rob’s beautiful wedding. The weather was perfect for their October date. When I met with Alison for her timeline planning she was praying hard for a nice day so they could have their dream beach wedding. She got her dream day. Alison and Rob said their vows on the beach in Cape May and danced the night away at the Chalfonte.

On the day of the wedding, I met Alison and her bridesmaids at the hotel. The front porch was so charming that I decided to photograph her wedding dress and details there. The light was perfect. We then got Alison into her dress. The getting-ready room we used was enchanting. I loved that room because the sunlight streamed in through the big windows and there was a vintage feel like the rest of the historic hotel.

Secret Garden

When I asked the owner of the hotel where the best places were to take photos, she recommended the secret garden.  In the middle of the hotel is a beautiful little garden that was simply perfect because we wanted to keep Alison out of sight.  I loved the white shiplap and the pretty flowers in the garden. Alison looked gorgeous standing amongst the flowers and the pictures with her bridesmaids in the garden are a few of my favorites from the day.

Once I finished with Alison’s bridal portraits, it was time to get photos of the guys. I met Rob and his groomsmen on the porch of the hotel.  I started with portraits of Rob, who might have been a tad nervous. It was fun getting the groomsmen’s photos outdoors on the porch and the front lawn of the hotel. The owner had also recommended taking photos in the antique bar. The painted mermaid in the King Edward room was the length of the bar and interesting. ha-ha

Beach Ceremony

Planning a beach ceremony in October can be a hit or miss. These two were so lucky to have a beautiful warm day.  Since there was no first look, Alison could not wait to see Rob’s reaction when he first saw her walking towards him. Rob’s reaction to seeing Alison for the first time was every girl’s dream. This part of the day was special for the two of them.  Everything was perfect and it was a lovely ceremony.

After the ceremony and family portraits, Alison and Rob wanted to take photos on the beach. We had to take advantage of the beautiful weather. The sun was starting to set which gave us the perfect hazy light. Alison just loved her dress and Rob looked great in his suit. They choose their favorite colors for the wedding party’s dresses and flowers. Alison’s bouquet was from Ling Moments. These soft-touch bouquets are so pretty. That morning Alison’s mom gave her a charm and she added it to her bouquet.

Dancing the night away at the Chalfonte Hotel, Cape May NJ

The Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May is the oldest original hotel and has so much charm. The reception/dinner space took place in the Magnolia Room. Alison was so thankful that she had someone help her with the decorations, so she didn’t have to worry about them that day. Alison did make her cake and cupcakes!

After the first dances, toasts, and dinner the couple danced with their family and friends. Their children enjoyed dancing with them and their families.  Alison and Rob wanted to make sure they took a moment to think about their loved ones that couldn’t be with them. They had a remembrance wall set up near the entrance into the Magnolia Room. The pearls Alison wore for her something old, belonged to her grandmother. Right before I left for the day, I took Alison and Rob to the entrance of the Magnolia room to take their last photos of the day. I love doing these photos with all my couples. Looking back on their day makes me smile as it was a fun wedding!

Alison’s advice for future brides:

Have someone help you with all the décor so that you don’t have to worry about anything on the wedding day. And try not to have to clean up after your long day. Ha-ha
