Cape May Beach Engagement. Sometimes, everything just falls perfectly into place. Carlos and Roxy’s engagement session at the Cape May Lighthouse was one of those days. On a gorgeous September afternoon, I captured their love story against the breathtaking backdrop of one of New Jersey’s most iconic landmarks.

These two were admittedly nervous about being in front of the camera for the first time, but you’d never know it from their photos. Their connection, their love, and yes—their playful humor—shined through every shot. And to make the session even more special, they brought along their beloved dog for the first part of the shoot. It was clear how much they adore their fur baby, and including him made their session feel even more personal.

From a Swipe to Forever: Carlos and Roxy’s Love Story

Their love story started with a chance swipe on a dating app—one that changed everything. Roxy, working her way through law school, came across Carlos’s profile during a work break. His kind eyes and warm smile stopped her in her tracks. After messaging him twice (persistence for the win!), they discovered they were both from the same hometown, thousands of miles away.

Their first date? Dinner at a local bar, where Roxy realized Carlos truly was the most handsome man she’d ever seen. That evening was just the beginning of their incredible journey.

Fast forward to January 6, 2024, when Carlos orchestrated the most elaborate and romantic proposal imaginable. From a scavenger hunt filled with personalized clues and special locations to a heartfelt moment at a rose-petal-filled bed and breakfast, Carlos’s creativity and love for Roxy were evident in every detail. He even got their dog, Oliver, involved—complete with a clue delivered in a message in a bottle! By the time Carlos got down on one knee, Roxy’s answer was the easiest “yes” she’d ever said.

During their engagement session, we started with playful shots featuring their dog. We then transitioned into romantic portraits of just the two of them. Cape May’s Lighthouse provided a perfect backdrop, but the love between Carlos and Roxy made every shot special.

As the session continued, we ventured to the ocean’s edge just as the sun was setting. The sky turned into a canvas of breathtaking colors—soft pinks and fiery oranges reflecting off the water. It was the kind of moment photographers dream of, and Carlos and Roxy made it unforgettable.

Looking Ahead

Carlos and Roxy are now counting down the days to their intimate wedding. They’re planning a celebration filled with love and laughter. They also want personal touches that blend their cultures, including live mariachi music and a caricature artist. Their excitement about finally calling each other husband and wife is contagious. Their wedding will be as unique and heartfelt as their love story.
