Cape May Beach Engagement Session in Cape May, NJ
Carlos and Roxyโs Cape May beach engagement session was one of those days where everything came together perfectly. As a Cape May NJ engagement photographer, these are the moments I love mostโbeautiful light, a meaningful location, and a couple completely in sync.
On a gorgeous September afternoon, I captured their session near the iconic Cape May Lighthouse, one of the most recognizable and scenic spots for engagement photos in Cape May, New Jersey.
These two mentioned they were a little nervous about being in front of the camera, but their connection and playful energy made everything feel natural from the start. To make the session even more personal, they brought along their dog, Oliver, for the first part of the shootโsomething I always love incorporating into engagement sessions.
A Love Story That Started with a Swipe
Carlos and Roxyโs story began with a simple swipe that turned into something unforgettable. While Roxy was in law school, she came across Carlosโs profile during a quick breakโand something about him stood out immediately.
After reaching out (twice!), they realized they shared the same hometown, even though they were miles away at the time. Their first date quickly confirmed what Roxy already feltโCarlos was everything she had hoped for and more.
Their relationship grew into something truly special, leading up to one of the most thoughtful and creative proposals Iโve ever heard.
A Thoughtful and Unforgettable Proposal
On January 6, 2024, Carlos planned an incredible proposal filled with meaningful details. He created a personalized scavenger hunt with clues that led Roxy through special locations, ending at a romantic bed and breakfast covered in rose petals.
He even included their dog, Oliver, in the proposal with a message in a bottleโsuch a perfect touch.
By the time Carlos got down on one knee, the answer was an easy yes.

The Cape May Lighthouse provided a stunning backdrop, but what made the session truly special was their connection. As a Cape May engagement photographer, I always focus on capturing those genuine, in-between momentsโand these two made that effortless.
As the session continued, we made our way to the beach just in time for sunset. The sky filled with soft pinks and warm golden tones, reflecting beautifully along the shoreline.
Cape May offers some of the most beautiful light for engagement sessions. This evening was a perfect example of why itโs such a sought-after location for photos.
