Long Beach Island Wedding | Sunset Wedding | Amy and Drew
LBI Sunset Wedding. Amy and Drew said their vows overlooking the bay on Long Beach Island, NJ. They were married under the Taylor Ave Park pavilion in Beach Haven, and it was a perfect outdoor location for their ceremony. We were able to overlook the water and catch the setting sun. It was a bit chilly and breezy, but the love surrounding everyone kept them warm.
The day started at the Mainland hotel, where Amy and Drew got ready. I met Amy and her girls in one of the hotel’s suites, which was the perfect space. Amy’s hair and makeup artist, Yanelsi (highly recommend), was finishing the girl’s makeup. I began photographing all of Amy’s pretty details and her elegant dress. I loved the colors they chose.
Many of the choices they made for their wedding stemmed from their song, Infrared, by Three Days Grace. The song matches their relationship and inspired other elements like their color scheme. They chose the accent colors of red and blue because they liked the symbolism of blending red and blue to make a new beautiful color, purple.
Tears at the first look
Drew and his groomsmen met me at the outdoor bar for photos before we set up for the first look. The first look was one of their most anticipated moments because they felt that not only revealing themselves to one another for the first time would be special but also would be the only time they could be present with one another and take in the day ahead. I love first looks because it gives couples quiet moments to soak it all in and be present with each other. Drew cried happy tears when he saw his bride. I think I had a few tears myself.
LBI Sunset Wedding
When planning an outdoor wedding in October, you never know what weather you will have. Thankfully, they lucked out with a crisp sunny day. Amy and Drew had a beautiful ceremony that ended with a handfasting and a kiss. After the ceremony, we took family and wedding party photos at the same location. The sunlight was at the right spot in the sky for Amy and Drews’s photos. Once we finished our pictures near the bay, we drove to Tucker’s Tavern, headed to the rooftop bar, and took a few more sunset pictures before heading into their reception.
A party filled with family and friends
Amy and Drew fell in love with Tucker’s Tavern and couldn’t wait to celebrate with their family and friends. One of their signature cocktails, The Infrared Elixir, blended red and blue to make one yummy cocktail. And their favors were tiny rubber ducks to represent their rubber duck, Slider, that they take on adventures, including their engagement session. They wanted their guests to have a Slider of their own. They had a romantic first dance and heartfelt speeches from their wedding party. Everyone was dancing and helped Amy and Drew celebrate their special day.
After all the planning and having experienced their wedding, I always like to ask my couples to share some advice for others planning their weddings. Amy and Drew said, “Be unapologetically yourselves as you plan your wedding. Don’t let magazines and social media pressure you into “sticking with the trends” or picking the most popular color schemes. Look for a venue that reflects you as a couple the most. Find that one song that resonates with you and go with it, even if it isn’t a traditional wedding song and book vendors inspired by your vision. It’s YOUR day, so make it your own, no matter what The Knot tells you.”
Beautiful Wedding Day for a couple so in love
LBI Sunset Wedding. Amy’s beautiful Sola wooden red, blue and yellow flowers, and flowy wedding dress complimented Drew’s khakis. The girls wore red dresses; the guys wore blue shirts, and their officiant, Amy’s friend, wore a purple dress. I love all the thought and details they had throughout their day. May they have a beautiful life together! I will close with lyrics from their song.
“Everyone’s living in black and white
We see each other in a different light
That’s why I look at you like I do
Like nobody else is even in the room”
